When to Consult

Signs You Should See a Urologist

Many urological conditions worsen silently. Do not ignore these warning signs — early consultation leads to simpler, more effective treatment.

Burning sensation, pain, or discomfort when urinating — a common sign of UTI or bladder inflammation

Blood in the urine (pink, red, or brown-tinged) — always requires prompt urological evaluation

Frequent urge to urinate, especially at night, or difficulty starting or stopping urine flow

Severe flank or back pain radiating to the groin — a classic sign of a kidney stone in the ureter

Swelling or a lump in the scrotum or groin area — may indicate hydrocele, varicocele, or hernia

Weak urine stream, incomplete emptying, or urinary retention — often a sign of an enlarged prostate

Common Urological Procedures at Angel Nursing Home

Ureteroscopy (URS) & Laser Lithotripsy

A thin scope is passed through the urinary tract to locate and break kidney or ureteral stones using laser energy — no incisions required, quick recovery.

TURP — Transurethral Resection of Prostate

An endoscopic procedure to remove excess prostate tissue obstructing urine flow in BPH — highly effective with minimal post-operative discomfort.

Cystoscopy

A flexible or rigid camera passed into the bladder to visually examine the bladder lining — used to diagnose stones, tumours, inflammation, and strictures.

PCNL — Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

A small keyhole incision in the back is used to access and remove large kidney stones that cannot be managed by laser alone — very effective for complex cases.

Hydrocele & Varicocele Surgery

Surgical correction of scrotal fluid accumulation (hydrocele) or dilated veins (varicocele) — often performed under local or spinal anaesthesia with a short recovery.

Laparoscopic Kidney Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery for kidney cysts, tumours, or obstructions — performed through small incisions for faster recovery compared to open surgery.
